Spraying
Spraying is a common behavior in cats, and is a form of marking territory. It is where the cat will back up to a vertical surface such as a wall, and then spray a stream of urine onto the surface. This is done to create a scent signal to other cats that the sprayed area is part of the cat’s territory. Spraying is most common in unneutered males, but can also be done by females and neutered males.
